Not my best effort, I'm afraid. I liked the crossing of the seed entries in Row 1/Band A, but the fill elsewhere suffered. I try to stick to words of 4 or more letters when writing a Marching Bands puzzle, but this time -- well, you'll see.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to cut back to one puzzle every two weeks for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, here's a Marching Bands for your solving pleasure. And if you're going to be in the New York City area next weekend, you might be interested in the Museum of Mathematics' inaugural puzzle hunt, for which I contributed three puzzles and did some test-solving. Even if you can't make it that weekend, the hunt will subsequently be available for museum visitors to solve at their leisure.

Working on the "Mini-March" puzzles seems to have helped: not only did it provide me with puzzles to share when I was having trouble with larger forms, but it got me working on my chops some, and now I have another full-sized Marching Bands puzzle for you. Enjoy!

Since I've been in a rut trying to write some of the "hard" puzzles (e.g., Marching Bands, Some Assembly Required, variety cryptics) in the past few weeks, I decided to try writing Marching Bands puzzles with a smaller grid. The same rules still apply, but the grid is 11x11 rather than 13x13. Mini-March: now with 28% fewer letters!*

You know, I had a buffer of harder puzzles built up, but I seem to be eating through that buffer. Guess I need to write more.

Another Marching Bands puzzle for today. Like #8, it's fairly music-heavy. I do admit that there are some tough spots, especially the "crossing" of the second word in Row 2 with the second word in Band B. Kudos if you can get that one.

With this puzzle, I have posted three Marching Bands puzzles in the last 4 weekends. Perhaps I should work on a different type for next week. Mostly by chance, this puzzle has a preponderance of music-related entries -- I've got 3 song titles, 4 bits of music terminology, and 1 band name. My apologies if music isn't your strong suit.
