Since I've been in a rut trying to write some of the "hard" puzzles (e.g., Marching Bands, Some Assembly Required, variety cryptics) in the past few weeks, I decided to try writing Marching Bands puzzles with a smaller grid. The same rules still apply, but the grid is 11x11 rather than 13x13. Mini-March: now with 28% fewer letters!*
Last month, I mentioned doing a last-minute rewrite of Spiral #14. Well, as it turned out, I was able to turn it into two separate puzzles, each better (in my opinion) than the original. Sometimes these things work out to my advantage.
When I said I had other kinds of puzzles in the pipeline, I meant it. It's just that…well, I'm still writing clues for a cryptic, I'm still gridding two Marching Bands puzzles, and I need to edit the Some Assembly Required for taste. If I had something else ready for prime time, I'd post it, but sadly, I don't.
